This week’s edition of House Calls takes us to the Brooklyn, New York, home of AJ Pires and Rachel Johnston, who traded in their classic brownstone for a waterfront apartment in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
The couple’s collection of 200-plus plants—inherited from Johnston’s late father—thrive in the unit’s floor-to-ceiling windows, which provide a cinematic view of the East River. The plants, in fact, helped shape the interior palette. “We wanted to keep the palette more neutral so the plants could provide the color,” Johnston says.
Taking inspiration from the calming home, we sourced key products—or in a few cases, similar finds—from each room so you can bring the look to your own space.
